We moved abroad 2 years ago, the reason for this was my husbands company wasnt picking up more work, and as we had been thru 2 recessions before I seen the vital signs. Husbands salary is alot better than the UK, we feel healthy where we are, we have the sun all year round. Our social life is so much better here aswell. I enjoy learning new cultures, and the expat community is excellent. Hope this helps.

      That's brilliant.
How do the locals react to the ex pat community? Over here we hear all sorts of horror stories of westerners being arrested for all sorts of odd reasons.

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if you (or know anyone that is) is female and over 30. I'm researching an article for a glossy women's mag and I'm looking for women who have moved abroad in search of 'the good life' but discovering it wasn't as idyllic as you thought it might be. Perhaps the housing wasn't as cheap as you thought, were you affected by the recession? Was there a problem in a relationships? It won't be a negative article as I want to show how people overcome these issues and now love being where they are. Ideally I would need repsonses tomorrow at 4:30pm.

You can contact me via email: [email protected] or Twitter: @SHallJourno

      Thanks, Steph

      Hey ACD,
Yes I did approve the message first, there are no payments involved and its basically going to be a human interest article for a mag, so on it's own it's not really breaking the forum rules.
However you do have a point because of the multiple postings, and because of that I've deleted the other messages that contain the same content in the other sections.

Hope that keeps everyone happy? :-D

And Steph, I'm not the site owner, just a Moderator on here.
