Can I ask you beery drinkers, is it normal for the pubs to put on a free courtesy bus there and back. I know the local here does it and I thought it was a great idea. I can remember the nightclubs in the olden days use to do it but they would only take you there it was up to you to find your own way back.
I can't say I have ever heard of it to be honest.
I remember there was a bus in Rifles pub in Enfeild and one of the working mens clubs in Bexleyheath but its not common. But then in most urban - or suburban areas if you can't walk to a pub you are either unlucky or lazy.
Our local pub has shut down, it is at the top of our estate and there are a couple of thousand houses withing walking distance, but like thousands of other uk pubs it eventually had to shut.
Just before it shut i rang up and asked what time they were opening and the landlord said............. when can you get here. lol
Thats a shame jim. Loads of pubs have closed down, the recession and the smoking ban hasn't helped and also being able to get booze in the supermarkets for next to nothing.
Was is a happy jovial place then your local?
it happens a lot everywhere in the world...
Its quiet on here Aldo, i thought i'd look in, but i was the only member logged on.
There was always cheap beer in the supermarkets, pubs are closing for a number of reasons, most have places to smoke, but they just seem less popular and money is tighter for the lower and middle classes.
Yes the beer is always cheep in British supermarkets, thats why in this recession hit time a lot of folk are drinking it at home rather than the pub.
it happens a lot everywhere in the world...
