Thread: UK unemployment drops

The Office for National Statistics released the latest unemployment numbers yesterday

The number of people in work in the UK rose to yet another record high of 29.7 million in the three months to November.

The number of unemployed fell by 37,000 between September and November to 2.49 million, the lowest total since the three months to May 2011.

The statistics also show that the number of people in full time employment increased by 113,000, with a fall in part-time employment of 23,000.

Long term unemployment, defined as being out of work for more than two years, was also down, by 10,000 to 434,000. The number of people out of work for more than a year also fell, by 5,000 to 892,000

How do you find it over there at the moment, is there plenty of work?

God no.. lots of people my age struggling (and older) there's jobs but lots of them are very low hours and then you have so many people all going for the same ones


I don't drive so I've made it a lot harder for myself but right now can't afford lessons so it's a vicious circle lol

I've applied for college but the course I really needed for uni has been cut from the list! so had to make do with others.

Didn't see that, what are you studying? Do you have to pay for college courses I can't remember its so long ago since I was there

I applied for higher health care, I'm waiting to see if I get a interview. I wanted to do occupational therapy or nursing at uni.

no most of us don't pay and some get bursary, depends on your circumstances. nhs pay your fees at uni - that's what I got told anyway

Good luck hope you get in. That's great that they help with fees. My eldest has to pay $48,000 for his psychology degree.
