The Office for National Statistics released the latest unemployment numbers yesterday
The number of people in work in the UK rose to yet another record high of 29.7 million in the three months to November.
The number of unemployed fell by 37,000 between September and November to 2.49 million, the lowest total since the three months to May 2011.
The statistics also show that the number of people in full time employment increased by 113,000, with a fall in part-time employment of 23,000.
Long term unemployment, defined as being out of work for more than two years, was also down, by 10,000 to 434,000. The number of people out of work for more than a year also fell, by 5,000 to 892,000
