I'm a British Citizen, and I have worked overseas (outside the EU), "ordinarily non-resident" for nearly 30 years. For various reason, I am considering retiring to Puerto de la Cruz in Northern Tenerife - its closer to family and friends in the UK, the pension is index-linked, and I can get health care through the Spanish Health System. I'm already receiving a full UK pension.
I was hoping to move from the Philippines (where I'm now working) direct to Tenerife. However the health care issue may be turning into a real problem. I have been away from the UK for so long that it seems I am no longer entitled to free NHS services unless I become "ordinarily resident" again. So I guess my real question is this: will I be able to get an S1 form for Spain without having to spend a significant period in the UK to establish residency again?
Any thoughts? ideas?
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Graham
