      Thanks for the thought TACD.

Hmm, so you are a property millionaire then

You must make some rental on that, do you advertise it on here?

      Thumbs up

Sorry TACD your reply missed me.

The property was bought half built in Oct 2005
and finished Oct 06 when i picked up the deeds.

It was mainly for investment so it has not been
advertised to rent out as yet.

The apt is situated in Alanya on the 5 star Goldcity complex and has
breathtaking views of the mountains and sea with sunsets out of this world.

      In the same boat!

      Hi ACD

I have just recently found myself in exactly the same frame of mind as you.

I am a retired (relativity senior) Fire Officer with a load of transferable skills but no knowledge of how to put them to good use abroad.

Have you had any joy following your posting?

Oooo your birthday will be in March then!! Me too but I'll be only 40 so I'm like a teenager in this thread! :twitcy:

I don't think there's an age limit for the States - not as far as I'm aware. You just have to be useful or rich, but then I guess that's the same in Oz or Canada??

being over 45 makes it re difficult, having a member of the family in oz, is a help, you can come in in a a parent or contributory parent the latter being much quicker, or if you can get a company here to sponser you.
good luck whatever you try to do

You're not kidding - we've just found out that we've had a tax deductible for me for the whole of the time we've been here and we weren't supposed to!! So we now owe the state and the federal government a year's worth of tax.

We'll be getting a lottery ticket this weekend!! :twitcy:

Oh no Trav, thats not good news at all. Surely they will allow you to pay it off in installments.
The lottery ticket is certainly worth a try.

Yeah we can pay it back in installments but I still can't work here yet so he's footing the bill on his own. We don't really want to have to send me back to the UK to work like we've been doing. Especially with the weather we're having here in California! It's these little trials that make you sure you want to stay - I know you're waiting for a move to somewhere else but this has just strengthened our resolve not to return to the UK - this is home now.

How's the new apartment working out? The photos looked lovely and I'm guessing being on the coast must be cooler?

I agree with you, certain things happen and yet you know you still want to stay shows its the place for you, i hope you find some work there soon.

Vung Tau is really nice, im much happier here, im staring at the sea now as we speak. Ive made lots of lovely friends here. Its a big oil and gas place and its full of expat Australians and Americans here. Right now im having a great time but will still be happy to move to the Seychelles at the end of this year
