I suppose it all depends on what line of work you are in and where you live.
Yes I have just spoken to friends in the UK, gas electricity, rates , petrol , weekly shop are going up rapidly but there income is not, they are getting worried if theres interest rate rises that they will find themselves in a vulnerable position, they say its quite common now that people are living this way, so close to the edge, very sad.

It's certainly no different in the US, for a lot of people.

Theres never been times like now and few countries have missed a recession, Australia being one of only a few countries that i know of, America and the uk are really struggling, but nothing like compared to Greece and Spain has 20% unemployed and Ireland have not long back been bailed out by the europe. Who knows where all this will end, but i see no short term fix for the uk, or the USA and i hope the pain for people ends sooner rather than later.

Hopefully Oz will weather the AU dollar going down in price last week. We're all being affected by the earthquake in Japan.

And certainly no different here in Australia that's for sure. I see no evidence of gas, electricity and rates going up rapidly in the UK though. Petrol has gone up like it has here and everywhere else.

Stating the obvious here but makes me shudder and depressed to see how Britain has been declining for a couple of decades now. Remember when I left school in late 70's there were an abundance of jobs. So easy to walk out of one and into another. Can recall several times when I was offered 3 different jobs in the same week and I used to think THAT was a dilemma!! Would be wonderful to return the 'Great' back into Britain but sadly feel it's the end of an era.
      Cal and peacock like this.
